The Christmas Challenge was posted on the Forever Knight fiction mailing list, FKFIC-L@LISTS.PSU.EDU by Susan M. Garrett in December of 1993. Susan M. Garrett challenged the list members to write holiday stories and promised that for every holiday story that was written and posted, Susan would write and post a story, up to a total of five stories.
