Gilbert Reeves was a freelance reporter in the episode "Spin Doctor".
Several years before the episode opens, Reeves had a relationship with Barbara Norton. Years later in 1992, he was in the midst of investigating the Rothweiler industry scandal (according to Nick), when Norton decided to run for mayor of Toronto.
During the mayoral election, Reeves checks into the convention center, the Hotel Perceval, with his girlfriend and future fiancée Mona Wayne. He has decided to expose his old affair with Norton to a tabloid newspaper, the National Intruder, and speaks to its chief editor about the sale of the story, which could have netted him $25,000. However, he is never able to follow through. When asked by Mona what it was he is going to do, he only says it is a secret.
After Mona leaves the room, Reeves decides to soak in the tub while watching the press coverage of the city’s mayoral election on a portable television sitting on the sink basin. Falling asleep, he doesn’t notice that another person has entered the bathroom. It is Norton's campaign manager, Laura Neil. She picks up the television and drops it into the tub. Reeves is electrocuted and dies.
