Story Recap[]
Set ten years after "Last Knight". It's Christmas Eve; and Nick runs into an old friend who doesn't recognize him.
Notes[]
Written for FK Fic Fest 2015 (released 5 September). The recipient was brightknightie, and the story was beta-read by wiliqueen & Mr. Havoc, with an assist by celli. Word count: 1990 words.
Written to the prompt: Gen. Nick and Natalie. "'Night in Question' gave us Nick with amnesia. I'd like to read Nick facing a Natalie with amnesia. (What would it do to him, to lose her in that way?)".
Quotes[]
- "She slows and turns, puzzlement written on her face. He shouldn't have said anything. He should have moved faster, turned a corner, just missing each other on the street in Victoria. "Hey!" calls Natalie, and he stops. He should walk away. He shouldn't do this, not to either of them. Nick stops anyway and turns back toward her."
Comments[]
- "This is beautiful. This is like a poem. I have tears in my eyes, and they are the right kind of tears." — excerpted from comment by brightknightie on AO3
- "So sad, and yet also so happy. Wonderfully done, I love the bittersweetness here - the happiness at finding her again, but the sadness (guilt) of what he'd done and what she's lost. And the ending, nice." — comment by sonneta on AO3
